Back in January, I posted this update about our plans to start building a new home this summer. Brad and I had already moved out of our Austin house and put everything in storage. We planned to travel a bit, throw a surprise wedding (yep!) and live with family while we prepared for this next chapter. And then…well…2020 happened.
It’s truly amazing how much can change in just eight months. Once we realized that things weren’t going to pan out the way we had planned, we took a beat to really re-evaluate our next steps. That’s when we decided that we didn’t really want to deal with the commitment and complications of building a big new home. We just wanted to enjoy the simpler things in life for a minute. We decided that we’d continue living with family and look to purchase an existing home when the time was right.
So finally, after 8 full months of living in other people’s spaces, we’ve officially started our house hunt. We’re looking for something that needs a little love because there’s no way this girl can just adopt someone else’s design. It’s slim pickings right now here in North Palm Beach, but I’m holding out hope that we find something in the coming months. Side note: if anyone is here and has a house to sell, you let me know 😉
Of course, none of this has stopped me from dreaming up all of the ways I’ll make our next home beautiful and quarantine-worthy. I’ve diligently organized my ideas on Pinterest here. There are sections for every room, every element, flooring, hardware, even fragrance! So pour a cup of coffee, follow my Florida Home board and come design with me…
